Commissions

Create the most wonderful classic family heirloom by commissioning a portrait of someone you love. My unframed, 3 dimensional canvasses work perfectly in the contemporary, informal home. I can work from photographs so no long sittings are involved. Having spent two decades as an illustrator and working with numerous clients, I have the ability to capture the personality of your son, daughter, mother, father, or beloved pet, in a style that will match your home.

The portrait process begins with a discussion between the client and the artist to determine the size, composition and price of the portrait to be created. Questions of clothing, background, colors, personality of the subject, ambience of the interior where the painting will hang and framing are considered. A 40% non-refundable deposit is required upon contract signing.

Next, a photography session is planned unless the artist is working from a provided photo. The client looks at the photographs and chooses the ones that best reflect the likeness of the sitter(s). The artist then produces an oil sketch to indicate the composition and approximate colors to be used for the proposed portrait. If approved, the artist then gives an estimate of the time of completion.

The portrait will then be created in the artist’s studio, using the finest museum quality oils on Belgian linen canvas. The remaining 60% of the cost of the portrait is due upon satisfactory delivery of the completed painting.

Original oils on paper are also available for commission. Working from photographs and other sources of your choosing, the sketches are drawn in graphite pencil on 100% rag and acid free paper and then painted over with thinned oil paints. Finished when dry with Kamar Varnish and mounted and matted with acid free boards, they have a wonderful freshness and color. Finished paintings can be purchased in the Etsy Shop, but for commissions please contact the artist.
